Welcome
Individual and Couples Counseling, Psychotherapy, EMDR
Navigating therapy options is a courageous first step in creating change in your life. For some, it is not easy to recognize how old, familiar patterns of behavior are affecting current relationships, work satisfaction, and overall feelings of happiness in the world. Seeking help is courageous because you are making a conscious effort to change the way you deal with your rough patches in life. You are realizing that what you have been doing is not working for you anymore, and that you want to manage yourself differently. Changing or “undoing” these behaviors takes time and effort, as you have been repeating these behavioral patterns for most of your life. For this reason, finding a therapist with whom you connect is as important as the therapy itself.
I have been practicing psychotherapy for 18 years; and my experience has been as vast as the life cycle itself, working with children, adolescents, adults, seniors, and couples. At this point, my primary focus is working with adolescents, adults, and couples dealing with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, loss, trauma, and difficult life transitions.
Although life cycle themes are often universal, my style of therapy is flexible, and varies with the individual or couple. I have roots in existential therapy and evolutionary psychology; change occurs with the utilization of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), assertiveness training, mindfulness, positive focus, self-care, and self-reflection. I have completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program, and I am EMDR trained through EMDRIA.
More recently, I have been incorporating Young Living aromatherapy oils into the therapeutic process, utilizing the olfactory system as another avenue of healing.
Becoming more aware of your own behaviors assists in making the unconscious conscious, and motivates behavior change.
